Founding letter (English version). I’ll keep this fairly brief.

My name is Nikita, and I’m the founder of this wall—the Wall of Optimism. It’s open to any topic and is simply here—for you and me. Like a diary, you’re free to write down your reasons for hope here—anonymously or not. I’m going to talk about a topic that’s close to my heart. It’s the reason behind this wall. This wall is simply an extension of my eternal optimism and is directly inspired by Carlos Diaz’s interview with Olivier Goy—who was diagnosed with ALS—on Silicon Carne. I hadn’t cried in a long time. That video made me cry. 
It helped me put even stronger words to the value of technology. For me, after seeing the first *Iron Man*, it was just something cool. Olivier showed me that it was so much more. I thought that the internet, AI, and emerging technologies would allow everyone to gain greater independence—geographical, financial, and ideological—while being much more connected to others.
But Olivier showed me that it’s so much more than that. He showed me that it was about so much more than social media or the ability to code faster. He showed me that these technologies allowed him to stay connected with his loved ones, even after he had lost his voice. And that has no price, no trend, no quantifiable value, and no reason other than this one. These are the fundamentals. So I have hope for the future. And especially for AI. Yes, this technology is and will be misused, but we must remember that technology is neutral, and I also know that it will allow others to communicate with their mothers, using their real voices, even when they’ve lost the ability to speak. 
So thank you, Carlos, for this moment, and thank you, Olivier, for your words. I’m happy for you that your mom was able to hear you again.
